About.

Brian Yim is a personal coach and the founder of Meaning. He is currently completing his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University and has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both community and hospital settings. He has worked with folks presenting with different problematics, including attentional and learning difficulties, mood disorders, substance use issues, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and severe mental illness. He has worked with diverse clients, ranging from high-achieving adults and gifted children to underprivileged and unhoused folks.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Brian completed a BA in Psychology at Concordia University and a BASc in Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia.

His goal for Meaning, apt to its name, is to help others find and strive for what matters to them. The stories we tell ourselves – and those we’ve been told – may sometimes no longer serve us. Breaking through these narratives, however, can be immensely challenging. It is during these times that Brian hopes to make a difference.

In his spare time, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, going on bike rides, and exploring the city. While his approach is integrative, Brian is particularly influenced by the works of Carl Jung, Jacques Lacan, Sigmund Freud, and other psychoanalytic thinkers.
